                    accurately as possible without reproducing the physical appearance of the
                    manuscript. Craik’s spelling, punctuation, underlining, superscripts,
                    abbreviations, additions and deletions are retained, except for words which are
                    hyphenated at the end of a line, which we have silently emended. Where Craik
                    uses a non-standard spelling, we have encoded both her spelling and the standard
                    Oxford English Dictionary spelling to facilitate searching. The long s is not
                    encoded.</p>

                    over – it would be advisable. Will you write him, suggesting this? – </p>
                <p><title corresp="CraikSiteIndex.xml#OutoftheDepths">"Out of the Depths"</title>
                    seems to me a most thoughtful &amp; good book – likely to do much good. – </p>
                <p>I thank you much for sending <add place="above">it</add> to me. – </p>
                <p>I would not get near <placeName ref="CraikSiteIndex.xml#HenriettaStreet"
                        >Henrietta Street</placeName> this week – so lost the pleasure of seeing
                    your <rs type="person" ref="CraikSiteIndex.xml#MacmillanFrances"
                        >sister-in-law</rs>. – </p>

Craik’s spelling, punctuation, underlining, superscripts, abbreviations, additions and deletions are retained, except for words which are hyphenated at the end of a line, which we have silently emended. Where Craik uses a non-standard spelling, we have encoded both her spelling and the standard Oxford English Dictionary spelling to facilitate searching. The long s is not encoded.
My dear Sir,

– It certainly is not easy to judge a whole book read aloud: but still I think if you were to spend an evening with Mr. Marston to talk it over – it would be advisable. Will you write him, suggesting this? –
