The 1801 edition of Robert Southey's Thalaba the Destroyer. The collection will also include texts related structurally and topically to Southey's epic poem, such as Erasmus Darwin's The Botanic Garden--related in combining poetic text and prose paratext and in comparative study of world cultures. The collection may develop in two ways:
1) to include epic poems by Southey and his contemporaries
2) to include European epics and travel literature from past centuries referenced in Thalaba and related in its representation of global and mythical locations.
